Jan Kaláb
Jan Kaláb is one of the country’s leading contemporary artists. He began his career as a founding figure of Prague’s underground graffiti and street art scene under the name Cakes, actively shaping the city’s visual culture with his crew, the DSK.

Jan Kaláb was born in 1978 in Prague and lives and works internationally.
Academic Carrer
He earned a Master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 2006.
Professional Carrer
Following his early graffiti practice, Kaláb’s work evolved into painting, sculpture, and spatial installations, including light-based works and animated NFTs. His first solo exhibition took place in 2008 at Trafo Gallery in Prague. His works are now part of museum collections in Europe, the United States, Asia, and South America, as well as private collections such as Dior and Tiffany. He regularly exhibits in major galleries worldwide, including cities such as New York, London, Paris, Seoul, and Shanghai.
Influences
Kaláb’s practice explores the relationship between shape and color. Working between painting and sculpture, he creates abstract forms that avoid direct representation, seeking instead a sense of universal beauty and familiarity that evokes moments of déjà vu and emotional resonance.
