The exhibition was organized to explore how K-culture—now a global phenomenon encompassing K-pop, TV dramas, films, cuisine, and beauty—is received and reinterpreted abroad through the perspectives of contemporary Portuguese artists. It examines how images and symbols associated with Korean culture are perceived in different cultural contexts and transformed into new meanings, highlighting the interactive nature of cultural exchange.

The exhibition features works by four leading contemporary Portuguese artists: Vhils, Ana Malta, AkaCorleone, and Wasted Rita. Rather than simply reproducing elements of Korean culture, the artists present their own interpretations of the image of an “exported Korea” as it is consumed and reconstructed overseas. Through drawings and paintings, they offer diverse perspectives on how Korean culture is understood and interpreted across different cultural settings.

Through this exhibition, the KF and the Embassy of Portugal in Korea aim to further promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Korea and Portugal while exploring the significance and evolving global influence of K-culture in the international community.
