Established in 2010 and consolidated in its present form in 2013, Underdogs works with a diversified roster of Portuguese and international artists connected with the urban inspired contemporary art universe, fostering the development of close relationships between creators, the public, and the city with the aim of promoting art as an everyday experience.
The Jaunt by Underdogs brings together new unique works by Abel Macias, Cleon Peterson, and Cody Hudson, developed from the artists’ respective journeys with The Jaunt – a project that sends artists to destinations they have never visited before, turning travel, discovery, and unfamiliar surroundings into a starting point for artistic creation.
Working across distinct visual languages and practices, each artist translates the experience of encountering a new place and culture into a body of work shaped by observation, immersion, and the unexpected. Presented at Festival Iminente, the exhibition brings these different outcomes together, revealing how the same premise – travelling somewhere unknown and creating from the experience – can open onto radically different artistic directions.
