Join the Underdogs movement! Visit us now to explore exhibitions, public art projects, and exclusive artist editions that connect communities through creativity.
Established in 2010 and consolidated in its present form in 2013, Underdogs works with a diversified roster of Portuguese and international artists connected with the urban inspired contemporary art universe, fostering the development of close relationships between creators, the public, and the city with the aim of promoting art as an everyday experience.
Ana Malta’s practice has evolved through a sustained and continuous process of making, moving between painting, drawing and installation. Rooted in everyday life, memory, and a close attention to materials and gestures, her work has developed into a visual language that remains in constant evolution.
This residency begins without a predefined theme. Instead, Ana has been invited to work with complete freedom: to explore new ideas, follow intuitions and allow the process itself to shape the direction of the work. While the artist starts from a series of initial thoughts, the final outcome remains unknown, and it is precisely this openness that lies at the core of the project.
At the end of the residency, the works produced during this period will be presented in an exhibition tracing the path of this month-long experience.
