Established in 2010 and consolidated in its present form in 2013, Underdogs works with a diversified roster of Portuguese and international artists connected with the urban inspired contemporary art universe, fostering the development of close relationships between creators, the public, and the city with the aim of promoting art as an everyday experience.
Following on from the vertical garden of living plants that previously existed on this site, this mural is a tribute or even an invitation to rediscover nature. Exploring the technique of large-scale painting, this visual oasis reflects the same message as the former garden: to bring a certain serenity and tranquility to a space where
lives are usually guided by a hectic pace or where one spends a lot of time inside a room.
My work mostly represents organic elements that make the piece dynamic and with the characteristic vitality of figures such as the plants, the mountains, a sun and even a dragonfly, but here I have softened my usual colour palette and chosen to leave some parts of the Viroc material (microcement) visible in the piece to
create harmony with the architecture of the EDP building itself.
In addition to this celebration of natural beauty and the inspiration I want to bring to the daily lives of people who pass by, the feeling that we are being embraced by this landscape, this mural is a reminder of our commitment to sustainability and the small yet significant actions and attitudes we must choose to not only preserve and respect what already exists, but also to build a greener, more balanced future.
