Nunca (1983) is Brazilian artist who began with the more extreme forms of graffiti in his native Sao Paulo aged twelve, later rising to prominence in the city's renowned urban art scene. Over time he evolved towards more figurative contents, exploring elements of Brazilian culture and incorporating indigenous figures to confront the country's urban modernity with its native past, developing a unique style characterised by stark colours and bold figures criss-crossed with engraving-like lines. He started exhibiting in 2004, rising to international fame when included in the landmark 2008 “Street Art” exhibition at Tate Modern in London.
