Pedro Campiche / AkaCorleone (1985) is a Portuguese illustrator/graphic designer/visual artist who started out as a notorious graffiti writer in the Lisbon underworld. A self-confessed obsessive with all things graphic and visual, he is known for his dexterity in using colours, typography, characters and forms, which he blends to achieve eye-catching compositions imbued with originality and an all-pervasive humour. He has been exhibiting his work since 2010.
Angela Ferreira, also known as Kruella D’Enfer, is an Portuguese artist born in 1988 on a stormy Halloween night and this might explain her fascination with the strange, the surreal and complex world that lives in her ideas. With the help of brushes, sprays, markers, she’s able to expose different scenarios and characters that pop into her mind.
Inspired by mythical creatures and legends, constellations, galaxies and all that surrounds her, she can always find different ways to express her creativity, either simple or complex, whether on a wall or a canvas.
Diogo Machado, also known as Add Fuel, excels in creating imaginary worlds, where he combines fictional characters, decorative elements, a distinctive trait, an omnipresent humor and a remarkable sense of symmetry. In the series of tiles that he stencils and/or lays on the walls, he creates the idea of a trompe l’oeil, leading us to believe that these are scenes inspired in a medieval universe; such is the rigor with which he draws. However, when we’re closer and see the tiles carefully, we discover a completely contemporary composition of figures and creatures. It’s a pop world, strange, were irony is always present.
±MAISMENOS± is an intervention art project by Portuguese artist Miguel Januário, which offers a critical reflection on the model of political, social and economic organisation that manages contemporary urban societies. Its programmatic expression is conceptually reduced to an equation of simplicity and opposites: more/less, positive/negative, black/white. ±MIASMENOS± has been producing thought-provoking, cutting-edge work both indoors and outdoors since 2005, and is currently based in Lisbon.
