Alfredo Cunha

Alfredo Cunha (b. 1953) began his professional career in advertising and commercial photography in 1970. In the following year, he became a photojournalist in the newspaper Notícias da Amadora. He worked for the newspapers O Século and O Século Ilustrado, for the magazine Vida Mundial, the Portuguese News Agency ANOP, and the news agencies Notícias de Portugal and Lusa. He was the official photographer for the Portuguese presidents Ramalho Eanes and Mário Soares, and he was distinguished with the title of Commander (ComC) of the Order of Prince Henry. He was the photographic editor of the daily newspaper Público between 1989 and 1997, and he worked as a photographer and editor of the Edipresse group. In 2000 he started working at the weekly magazine Focus. In 2002 he collaborated with Ana Sousa Dias on the RTP2 television programme Por Outro Lado. Between 2003 and 2009 he was a photographer and editor for the newspaper Jornal de Notícias. From 2010 to 2012 he was photographic director at Agência Global Imagens. He currently works as a freelancer and pursues various editorial projects.
