Coxas

André Barbato aka Coxas (b. 1981), holds a degree from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo. A native of the same city, where he still lives today, his greatest influence lies in the megalopolis and urban life, having started out his path in the illegal graffiti scene. A set designer, he worked on the conception and production of the installation of shows by important figures of the Brazilian music scene. Coxas sucks in the chaos of the São Paulo metropolis and returns to us the city’s irony that proposes freedom but takes it away at the same time. With the street acting both as medium and inspiration, it is from it that he extracts the forms, colours, constructions and emblematic elements for his work.
