Espack

Espack (b. 1978) is a French visual artist with a background in graffiti whose work is based on the study of the city. His projects are closely connected to its spaces and social practices, drawing inspiration from what he observes and finds during his urban wanderings, both at home and in the course of his many travels abroad. Working in a variety of media – including sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, metal engraving, and recovered objects –, he blends the language and aesthetics of graffiti with elements taken from everyday life, reinterpreting both and imbuing them with new meaning. The artist has been making recurrent use of site-specific installations and in situ works that reflect a deeply interested and poetically charged approach to his subject matter. Developing his personal work in the scope of exhibitions, micro-editions, artist residencies, and workshops, he is also screen printer and editor at la yeah! éditions and a curator. He lives and works in Lille.
