Paul Insect
Paul Insect (b. 1971) is a British contemporary artist known for his masked, mixed-media portraits and his pivotal role in London’s 1990s street art scene. Emerging with Pictures on Walls, he quickly established a reputation for blending DIY aesthetics with bold, graphic experimentation.
Insect’s collaborations span both art and music, from projects with Banksy and New York artist Bäst to designing album art and stage visuals for DJ Shadow’s The Outsider. His monumental rainbow sculpture at Glastonbury Festival (2010) has become an iconic emblem of the event’s cultural landscape.
Recent highlights include his immersive puppet installation for Beyond the Streets London at the Saatchi Gallery (2023), and solo exhibitions such as “Seeyou” (Allouche Gallery, New York), “This & That” (Avant Arte, London), and “There’s More Upstairs” (Allouche Gallery, Paris). Bridging Dada, Pop Art, and street culture, Insect’s work remains playful, provocative, and instantly recognizable.
