Established in 2010 and consolidated in its present form in 2013, Underdogs works with a diversified roster of Portuguese and international artists connected with the urban inspired contemporary art universe, fostering the development of close relationships between creators, the public, and the city with the aim of promoting art as an everyday experience.
In Eis-me, sou uma poeta, irei ao entardecer (Here I am, a poet, leaving at dusk), Manuela Pimentel approaches the figure of the poet not through writing, but through images. Her work proposes a way of looking that seeks beauty, mystery and the possibility of renewal in what often goes unnoticed. Taking something inherently ephemeral, the advertising poster, and transforming it into a form associated with permanence and cultural memory, she creates a body of work that exists between preservation and reinvention. Faced with a world saturated by images and information, the artist invites us to pause, look closely, and uncover what lies hidden beneath the surface of things.
