D*Face is a British visual artist whose practice emerged from the London street art scene in the early 2000s. His work is rooted in a subversive approach to image-making, drawing on the visual languages of pop culture, advertising, and comic imagery to reflect on contemporary society.
Beginning with hand-drawn characters developed into stickers and posters placed across the city, D*Face built a distinct visual universe that moves between the street and the gallery. His work reconfigures familiar imagery into compositions that are at once seductive and unsettling, often engaging with themes of consumption, identity, and the influence of mass media.
Over time, his practice has expanded across large-scale murals, exhibitions, and edition work, maintaining a critical perspective on the visual culture that shapes everyday experience.
Exploring themes of love, trust, and emotional vulnerability, D*Face makes use of the unique spatial context of the mural to bring narrative to the artwork. Familiar figures appear in moments of intimacy and reflection, inviting viewers to consider how relationships shape our sense of direction.
The imagery plays with contrast: softness and strength, affection and fragility, permanence and impermanence. Rather than presenting conflict between these opposites, the work focuses on the human experience of connection and the risks we willingly take in opening ourselves to others. Installed on either side of the bridge – an architectural symbol of passage – the mural mirrors the transitions we experience in relationships and in life.
