Emerging from Tiago Galo’s exploration of everyday gestures and contemporary experience, desNORTE reflects on moments of uncertainty and the search for direction. The title draws on the Portuguese word for disorientation, evoking a state in which familiar points of reference begin to dissolve.

Rendered through the artist’s characteristic visual economy, the composition centers on a solitary figure engaged in an act of navigation. Yet rather than offering certainty, the image suggests a condition of continual searching, where orientation becomes both a physical and emotional process. Balancing simplicity with subtle ambiguity, the work reflects on how individuals position themselves within an increasingly complex world, where the need for direction often coexists with the acceptance of not knowing exactly where to go.

"This print was developed following a month spent living and working in Lisbon, where I immersed myself in the city through observation, walking, and documentation. Coming from a street art background, I’m always highly aware of my environment and the way a city shapes both people and visual language. Lisbon immediately felt familiar, there are strong parallels with Dublin in its cultural depth, history, and humanity. But Lisbon carries a particular vibrancy, amplified by light, colour, and climate. What stood out most to me was the city’s surface language, the mosaic tiles, the layering of materials, and the quiet beauty found in its aging and weathering. Broken façades, discarded buildings, cracked tiles, and flora pushing through concrete all reveal traces of life and use. These imperfections speak to time, occupation, and shared experience, they show a city that has been lived in. In this work, I wanted to move away from the flat, clean-lined graphic approach I’m often known for and instead embrace texture, depth, and layering. The piece reflects the conversations within a city, between old and new, destruction and growth, people and place, and how a single space can hold countless stories across different moments in time. 

A hand embellished element is inspired by the overhead tram wires that cut through Lisbon’s streets. This gesture is intentional, a way of marking my physical presence within the work, acknowledging that the piece is not just about the city, but about my experience of being there. Just as the city left its mark on me, I wanted my hand to be visible in the final image."

Blue Dinosaur offers a satirical take on Europe as a once-powerful force now stalled by its own legacy. Through the image of a prehistoric creature, the work questions the continent’s ability to adapt in the face of global urgency. Layered with irony and symbolism, it invites reflection on the balance between tradition, transformation, and political responsibility.

Emerging from Joram Roukes’ ongoing exploration of identity and the symbols that shape contemporary culture, Blue Bull reflects on the evolving perceptions of masculinity through a dialogue between three protagonists: a blue bull, a red doberman, and a solitary perch. Suspended within a composition that resists fixed orientation, the figures invite multiple readings, suggesting that ideas of strength, vulnerability, and power are never absolute, but continuously shaped by perspective.

Characteristic of Roukes' practice, disparate images, cultural references, and symbolic elements are brought together into layered compositions that remain open to multiple interpretations. Working across painting, collage, and digital processes, the artist constructs richly textured visual worlds where familiar forms are continually recontextualised. For this edition, the original composition has been reworked through a transformed background, screen-printed interventions, and hand-finished details, allowing the dialogue between the three protagonists to come into sharper focus.
