Lisa Congdon is an American illustrator, author, and fine artist based in Portland, Oregon. Known for her colorful graphic style and hand lettering, her work combines design, activism, and storytelling. Through books, illustrations, and prints, Congdon creates visually optimistic compositions that celebrate creativity, personal growth, and the power of art to inspire new perspectives.
Kyoto offered Lisa Congdon a long-awaited immersion into Japanese art, design, and textile traditions. Exploring museums, architecture, and contemporary craft revealed a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity. Particularly inspired by bold patterns and hand-crafted techniques, she translated these influences into her own graphic language. The print reflects vibrant color, repeating shapes, and warmth, echoing the textiles and cultural details she encountered. It stands as a celebration of cross-cultural inspiration, where careful observation and optimism merge into a joyful and contemporary composition.
