Taquen is a Spanish artist from Madrid whose murals and studio works explore the relationship between people and their environments. Using fluid lines and warm natural colors, he often portrays figures, animals, and plants in poetic compositions. His work reflects themes of movement, change, and connection with landscape.
Running the Sahara Marathon among Sahrawi communities profoundly impacted Taquen. Experiencing their hospitality and resilience amid harsh desert conditions shaped both his reflections and artwork. Workshops with local children and encounters with decorated hands inspired symbolic elements within the composition. The print references “the desert in the desert,” blending human gesture and landscape. Through warm tones and expressive line, the work honors courage and community, transforming endurance and solidarity into a poetic tribute.
