Established in 2010 and consolidated in its present form in 2013, Underdogs works with a diversified roster of Portuguese and international artists connected with the urban inspired contemporary art universe, fostering the development of close relationships between creators, the public, and the city with the aim of promoting art as an everyday experience.
Having been premiered at the historic Cinema São Jorge in Lisbon as part of the Festa do Cinema Francês programme, "The World as a Whole" is the first ever short documentary film produced by Underdogs.
Directed by Ana Pires, It takes us behind the scenes of "(No) Borders", an Underdogs project developed in the scope of the France - Portugal Season 2022, which challenged four Portuguese artists and four French artists to come together and create public art interventions in four sister cities across Portugal and France: Nazaré & Capbreton, Porto & Bordeaux.
In each of these territories a pair comprising one artist from each country originated a joint artwork, unifying styles, techniques, perspectives and approaches to reach an artistic symbiosis. "The World as a Whole" transports-us on a journey that explores these processes of conception: a meeting of cultures and a dialogue of creative languages that reveals the life behind the artwork.
