Developed within the context of The Studio project at Underdogs Gallery, this edition was hand-finished by Rita João during her week-long residency.

Originally conceived as a glimpse into Pedrita Studio’s archive of discarded digital matrices, Mimixa 003.jpg reflects an interest in process, testing, and unexpected visual outcomes generated through experimentation and technical constraints. During the residency, the artist expanded this logic through direct manual interventions, introducing unique watercolour elements to each individual print.

Created in parallel with a new body of works on paper, the edition reflects the more immediate and open approach explored throughout the residency, where gesture, variation, and spontaneity became central to the creative process. As a result, each edition is unique.

In Sri Lanka, Swoon divided her time between meditation, drawing, and observing the ocean’s movement. Unexpectedly finding herself in a monastery during the onset of global lockdowns, she experienced a profound stillness shaped by ritual and nature. The rhythms of daily meditation and the sea’s swirling patterns informed her observational approach. Her print studies the water below Sunyata, translating its motion into intricate line work. The piece reflects a moment of pause and introspection, where environment and inner landscape merged into a quietly powerful visual meditation.

Returning to Amsterdam, the twin brothers of Sobekcis revisited a formative city in their artistic journey. Experiencing its museums, public sculptures, and calm architecture through new eyes reshaped their perception. Inspired by monumental forms and contrasting textures, they created a sculptural composition marked by bold gestures and vibrant color. The print balances aggression and harmony, reflecting both their graffiti roots and refined abstraction. It captures a dialogue between past and present, where memory and renewed curiosity collide in a dynamic visual statement.
