Scott Sueme is a Canadian artist based in Vancouver whose work centers on color, material exploration, and abstraction. Drawing from hard-edge painting traditions, he investigates how color relationships evoke memory and emotion. His compositions balance geometric structure with subtle human presence, emphasizing how perception and materiality interact within contemporary painting.
Mexico City’s architectural details and decorative ironwork captivated Scott Sueme. Walking through vibrant neighborhoods, he documented gates, lattices, and entryways that balanced function and ornament. These modest yet intricate designs informed his exploration of color and abstraction. The print isolates structural patterns into layered forms, revealing depth through subtle tonal shifts. Inspired by craftsmanship and cultural texture, the work transforms everyday urban details into a refined composition that honors both material presence and human touch.
