Abel Macias is a Los Angeles–based artist whose work draws inspiration from Mexican folk art, everyday objects, and desert landscapes. After many years living in New York, his move to California influenced a warmer color palette and new visual references. His compositions combine symbolic imagery with earthy tones, creating narratives rooted in cultural memory and lived experience.
In Rwanda, Abel Macias encountered both profound history and thriving natural beauty. From visiting the Genocide Memorial to witnessing wildlife in Akagera National Park, his journey balanced reflection and awe. Safari experiences inspired imagery of elephants, giraffes, and birds roaming freely. The print translates these vivid encounters into a stylized composition rooted in his folk-influenced aesthetic. It captures the vitality of wildlife and the resilience of place, honoring a country defined by both memory and forward momentum.
