Ekta is the moniker of Swedish artist Daniel Götesson, based in Gothenburg. His practice revolves around bold geometric compositions built from vibrant colours, rhythmic lines, and intuitive structure. Working across murals, paintings, and prints, he describes his approach simply as placing shapes and colours in an order that feels right. His work conveys a sense of movement, freedom, and visual balance rooted in contemporary abstract expression.
During his time in Lisbon, Ekta embraced the city through wandering rather than planning. Without maps or expectations, he walked, painted in the streets, and absorbed the shifting colors and atmospheres of different neighborhoods. The relaxed rhythm of the city and its ambient hues left a lasting impression. Back in his studio, he translated that energy into bold geometric forms and a carefully chosen palette inspired by Lisbon’s light and architecture. The print captures not a literal landscape, but the vitality and freedom he experienced while getting lost in the city.
