Jordy van den Nieuwendijk is a Dutch artist currently based in Melbourne. His work is recognized for its vibrant palette, simplified forms, and playful imagery. Drawing inspiration from everyday subjects such as plants, vehicles, and food, he creates compositions that radiate optimism and energy. His paintings and prints balance bold color with graphic clarity, capturing the essence of familiar objects through expressive minimalism.
Tasmania’s dramatic shifts in landscape and scale left a strong impression on Jordy van den Nieuwendijk. From coastal flights in a small propeller plane to the symbolic presence of a lighthouse, he experienced travel as regained freedom after periods of restriction. The sense of vastness and changing scenery shaped his vibrant composition. In the print, bold color and simplified forms capture both movement and stillness. The work distills fleeting moments—flight, coastline, light—into a graphic expression of perspective gained through exploration.
